Effective Blog Title Ideas for a Catholic Blog: Finding Inspiration
from Catholic Movies, Documentaries, and Short Films (6 of 7)
Introduction
Searching sources of inspiration and ideas to title a Catholic blog
is also a very good learning experience. In the past articles, we examined
five of these sources. If we explore these suggested sources more thoroughly,
we are certain to discover something more than just ideas for an effective
Catholic blog title. For example, as we searched among Catholic prayers,
Catholic literature, Catholic music, Catholic key words, and Scripture
and the documents of the Church, we may have obtained an insight into
something that generates even more ideas - brighter ideas for the better
development of a Catholic blog site.
In this sixth article of a series of seven, we will now explore Catholic
movies, documentaries, and short films (often packaged in videos), as
sources of inspiration and ideas for a Catholic blog title.
A picture is worth a thousand words
The rich imagery and symbolism that often accompanies the production of
a movie, adds to the inspirational quality that the movie can provide its
viewers. If the popular saying tells us that "a picture is worth a
thousand words", then imagine the worth of a "moving picture" (movies,
documentaries, short films, videos). It can inspire and move us. It
can enkindle in us the holy desire to do noble acts for the love of God.
This is what pro-Catholic movies usually are produced for: to instill
and form in the minds and hearts of its viewers a greater love for God
and the Church.
The titles and themes of Catholic movies
I have a list of favorite movies and documentaries that can provide
you with ideas to title your Catholic blog. These films are familiar
to me and I wish to share how we can edit and revise the titles of
these films to produce a good Catholic blog title.
These movies and films are as follows:
- The Passion of the Saints (Discovery Channel documentary)
- Shoes of the Fisherman (movie)
- The Song of Bernadette (movie)
- A Man for All Seasons (movie)
- The Man Who Saw Tomorrow (documentary, narrated by Orson Welles)
- Brother Sun, Sister Moon (movie)
Editing and revising some movie titles
In the list given above, we can edit and revise some of the movie titles
to create a Catholic blog title which can inspire us to write about it more.
For "The Passion of the Saints", we can edit and revise this to "The Miracles
of the Saints". This is one blog title with a theme that can inspire much
faith in an all-powerful God who distributes the gift of miracles among
His faithful servants.
For a more socially-concerned Catholic blog, we can revise "The Song
of Bernadette", to "The Song of Unborn Children". This blog title would
have as its serious theme, the pro-life stance against abortion. For those
who greatly advocate the Catholic teaching of respecting life in all its
stages, this blog would be a good Catholic blog that can join other
bloggers in the cause against abortion.
For a more reflective blog, we can edit "A Man for All Seasons" to "A Blog
for All Seasons". The blog can be the medium for reflections on the readings
of the liturgical seasons of the Church: Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter,
and Ordinary Time. It can also include reflection on the special liturgical
readings for the special feasts and solemnities celebrated for the Lord,
the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the saints.
For "The Man Who Saw Tomorrow", we can edit this documentary title to produce
a blog title such as "The Saints Who Saw Tomorrow". As we read more and more
on the lives of the saints, we will discover that a majority of them were
gifted by God to know the date of their death. And some are even more gifted
by God with the power to see into the future. Sister Lucia Dos Passos,
(one of the seers of Fatima), who will eventually be on the road to
sainthood, was given the gift to see symbolically what would happen to
the Church and the world in the future.
Movie titles as Catholic blog titles
Instead of editing and revising the Catholic movie title to create a
new title for a blog, we can keep the movie title intact, and build
a blog that bears the theme of both the movie and the subjects that
were presented in the movie.
As an example, for "Shoes of the Fisherman", we can take this as our
Catholic blog title, and blog about the papacy. It would be a very
interesting writing project to venture upon. We will discover not only
the lives of the Popes we know in our time, like John Paul II and
Benedict XVI, but also the lives of the great pope-saints and the
not so saintly lives of popes in our Church history.
And for "Brother Sun, Sister Moon", if you are familiar with Franciscan
spirituality, then this could not only be an effective Catholic blog
title idea, but also a popular one. You can blog about St. Francis,
St. Clare, the history and development of the Franciscan orders, and
the lives of the many Franciscan saints. Aside from the Benedictines,
the Franciscan order is also one of the religious orders in the Church
that has produced a great number of saints.
Catholic film reviews
Aside from searching among movies, documentaries, short films and
videos, to find sources of inspiration and ideas to title our Catholic
blog, we can also compose a Catholic blog title that will have for its
subject, the reviews of pro-Catholic movies. We can also venture into
reviewing a few controversial films, if we are extra careful and objective
in writing about them. However, the safest direction is to make write-ups
and positive reviews of movies that are popularly judged as pro-Catholic.
To have an idea of what these pro-Catholic movies are, the National
Catholic Register web site lists down 100 of these pro-Catholic movies.
To learn more about these movies, you can check
"
Top 100 Pro-Catholic
Movies".
Summary
Pro-Catholic movies are very inspirational and uplifting to our human
spirit. It can inspire us well, and positively impress us to move in
the direction of greater service to God and the Church. Many of these
pro-Catholic films have become our favorites - favorites that we watch
not only once, but many times. Let us therefore take the opportunity
to source our Catholic blog title from one of these popular pro-Catholic
movies, documentaries, short films, and videos. The Catholic blog that
we create can be a channel to also inspire our readers with the same
quality of inspiration that the pro-Catholic movie inspired us with.
