Catholic Blog Title Ideas from Other Catholic Blogs: Effective Blog Title Ideas Series (7 of 7)

Introduction

Starting a blog was not easy at first. Eventually I was able to produce Catholic blog titles and blog posts - some of which are based on classic spiritual writings. This blogs were composed in 2002, with a number of them already closed down. When I composed the majority of these Catholic blog titles, I did not yet know the importance of blog titles in Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This article will review these blog titles, and analyze how you can also employ the title patterns from which to mold and compose your own Catholic blog title and blog posts.

A title pattern from Catholic prayers

In the first articles of this Series, I shared how Catholic prayers can be sources of inspiration for a blog title. Two blogs, one actively posted upon, while the other rarely, were taken from phrases in the prayers to the Holy Spirit: Enkindle in Them the Fire of Your Love and Send Forth Your Spirit. So, aside from the litanies and the prayers attributed to saints as sources of inspiration, you can also derive a lot of very good ideas from the prayers to the Holy Spirit: both traditional and modern prayers.

A title pattern from Scriptures

I shared in article #5 how Scripture can be a source of inspiration to title a Catholic blog. In light of this idea, a blog entitled New Wine is Put into Fresh Wineskines. This title is taken from Luke 5:38, Mark 2:22, and Matthew 9:17. This title obtained its inspiration from the gospel read in a Eucharistic celebration. It is not only while reading the Bible that a passage of Scripture can illumine our mind and inspire us. Listening to the gospel and the homily of a priest in the Mass can also give us inspiration to title a Catholic blog.

A title pattern from Catholic books

I shared in article #2 of Catholic books and spiritual classics as sources of inspiration to title a Catholic blog. In light of this idea, a blog title called The Seven Fires of the Soul. This blog title is really a combination of Thomas Merton's "The Seven Storey Mountain" and St. Therese of Lisieux's "The Story of a Soul". This is one way of composing a blog title - using two spiritual classics as ideas to come up with something unique.

A call to brainstorm and to be creative

My other blogs don't follow any of the other patterns I have provided in the previous six articles. With these blogs, I followed the strategy of "thinking outside the box". Two examples of these blog titles are Theology of Business and From Galilee to the Internet. The first one does not really write about any new theology; it's just a title to pilot the theme of a blog which seeks to integrate the Christian spirit and values in a small family business. As regards the second blog title, it is simply a way of formulating a response to the call of John Paul II's 36th World Communications Day Message, in a blog title.

Catholic blogs that are closed down

Some of my other blog titles (which are now closed) can also give you ideas to pattern your own Catholic blog title. Most of these titles can be categorized as examples in the previous six articles of this Effective Blog Title Ideas Series. A few of the titles are like the ones that were composed by "thinking outside the box". These former Catholic blog titles are as follows:

  • 1 The Nexus
  • 2 Books, Blogs, and BTWs
  • 3 Welling Up to Eternal Life
  • 4 Christ-Wisdom and the 'Magis"
  • 5 Catholic Windows on the World
  • 6 The Easter Blog
  • 7 Catholic Supplement and Support
  • 8 Authors, Apropos, and AKAs

The 2nd and 8th blog titles were based on Evelyn Woodward's book, "Poets, Prophets, and Pragmatists". The 3rd title is a phrase from the gospel of John, specifically in the passage narrating the encounter of Jesus with the Samaritan woman at the well. The 1st title is taken from St. Bonaventure's term for the Holy Spirit in one of his spiritual writings. The 5th and the 7th blog titles were based on John Paul II's document on the Internet. And the 4th title is not a blog on the infant Christ and the three wise men. Rather, it is a combination of two important elements in Catholic spirituality (Christ-Wisdom from St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort, and the 'Magis' from Ignatian spirituality).

Ideas from other Catholic blogs online

Aside from the blog titles suggested above, you can also make a search at Google for the key phrase "catholic blogs". The search results can give you ideas from other Catholic blog titles. You can then discover even more title patterns that were not included in this series on Effective Blog Title Ideas. You will realize that there are so many ideas you can obtain just by simply making a search at Google, Bing, or Yahoo!.

Conclusion

From the seven articles of this Effective Blog Title Ideas Series, you can find many sources of inspiration and ideas from which to pattern and model your own Catholic blog title. You can also follow a more innovative and creative direction by "thinking outside the box", and creating a combination of ideas from several sources. What is important in composing a title, is that you never forget to take into account the importance of popular Catholic key words and phrases so that when your Catholic blog is indexed by the search engines, it will rank higher in their search results pages.
